PSILOCYBIN TO QUIT SMOKING

It’s not just a play on words; with the help of psilocybin, it’s reality.

Psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms is a natural chemical found in some wild mushrooms that used to get a bad rap for their recreational hallucinogenic usage back in the 50’s and 60’s.

When taken in microdosing quantities (small doses) there are no psychedelic effects but the benefits are still welcomed! One of these benefits we are referring to is the wonderful researched and studied nixing of the addiction to cigarettes.

Say bye-bye to that terrible habit. You know, the one that keeps you craving it every few hours, the pattern that causes cancer, the routine that makes your clothes smell, breath wreak and teeth yellow.  Shall we go on?

A bit unusual sounding, kicking a nicotine habit with magic mushrooms may sound eye-brow raising worthy, but … kid you not, clinical trials and new research presents psilocybin as an effective treatment for addiction.

How Do Magic Mushrooms Treat Nicotine Addiction?

Psilocybin causes the brain to speak and interact with itself on a whole other level. It engages and wakes parts of the brain that are “sleeping”. “These brain changes lead to a sense of unity.” – Matthew Johnson (experimental psychologist at Johns Hopkins University)

Whatever you do, don’t chalk this up to hippy talk, Johns Hopkins University is a worldwide renowned pioneer in the medical space, so much so, that they have even recently implemented their own Center for Psychedelic & Consciousness Research!

Johnson explains how sections of the brain that don’t normally talk to each other communicate more and the parts that interact frequently with one another talk less while using psilocybin.

David Nutt, a professor of neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London asserts that his studies revealed a disruption of negative feedback networks in the brain and by breaking those networks down, there is a chance they won’t reform.

Addiction is a negative feedback and can be broken down.

Psilocybin is Better Than the Nicotine Patch.  🡨 PROVE IT!

Challenge accepted.

Johnson, has just recently conducted a larger research study (results are still coming in) regarding the comparison of psilocybin to the nicotine patch.

Over half of the subjects who took psilocybin are smoke-free after 1 year which is about twice as effective as the patch!

Do note: the study Johnson conducted administered a higher dosage of magic mushrooms to the patients coupled with therapy.

A valid quote-worthy recognition is the perfect way to conclude.

“Depression and addiction are major causes of death in our society, and it’s not getting better –it’s getting worse. I think there is a broader societal recognition that we need to be creative and not dismiss things because of arbitrary associations.” – Johnson
